Micci's Weekly KPOP Rankings [Ep 3: Jan 14-20]

Micci's Weekly KPop Ranking
Episode3
Week 3: Jan 14-20, 2013
(Video Posted: Feb 11, 2013)

Hi everyone! I’m Micci and welcome to Episode 3 of my Weekly KPOP Rankings! This week is the battle of the comebacks and amazing choreographies! I’m not kidding when I say that this week was probably the HARDEST to rank! To me all 20 of the artists on my ranking are all so perfect!

Now I apologize for the extra long dely in posting this. I got very ill and I was planning on doing my rankings like how I did for episodes 1 & 2 but I didn't want to go on camera. Eventually, I decided to settle do to my videos this way instead since now I have this blog. No need for me to be in front of the camera! Whoop! THIS is how my videos will be from now on.

I’ll get started with 2 artists who aren’t promoting but they released perfect videos!

The first is JYJ’s Kim JaeJoong’s rocking solo debut song, "Mine". I thought the whole JYJ/SM issue was finally over, but for some reason, JYJ still can’t promote on music programs, so JaeJoong’s "Mine" can’t be placed on my rankings. *sad face* As you probably heard, the song is hard rock, which is a very new sound we’re hearing from him. I personally think it fits his voice soooo well. The music video was so amazing with it’s dark setting and vampire theme. JaeJoong certainly does know how to be perfect no matter what he does or how he looks.
Kim JaeJoong (김재중)- "Mine" M/V

The other artist who released a music video is B.A.P with "Rain Sound". I’m a HUGE Baby and this song was super perfect. If it had been promoted it probably would’ve been 1st because I’m biased like that. But for real, it’s so perfect with its soft hip hop feel and because they all sound more mature! (Especially Zelo! Our baby is growing up!) B.A.P has seriously never disappointed me as each song they release is even better than the last. Watch out for their comeback in February!
B.A.P - "Rain Sound (빗소리)" M/V

Now I’ll begin the actual countdown!

In 10thplace I have 2YOON’s rocking comeback- "Why Not"! Now the reason I used a live performance video is because they haven’t released a music video for this song. They performed it as part of their comeback stage and I fell in love! The song is really great for their great vocals! Its also a very different sound compared to their other song 24/7 and the stuff they’ve done with 4Minute!
2YOON (투윤)- "Why Not" [Live]

Next up is Boyfriend- "I Yah" Like I said last episode, this choreography really hot. It’s great to see Boyfriend having a mature concept compared to their cute days! Personally, I like this side to them a lot more. I used a live performance to show you the hot choreo because it isn’t seen too much in the actual music video. (Bless the camera-man in this live performance. mmmm.)  I wish boyfriend would release an actual dance version to this song.
BOYFRIEND (보이프렌드) - “I Yah (아이야)” M/V

In 8th place this week is Phantom’s comeback with "Like Cho YongPil". This song and music video are so deep as it shows the struggles of trying to make it big but the road to getting there is not easy and how relationships can be tested. Phantom never fails to bring forth beautiful music despite how sad the lyrics are. The reason I used a live performance instead of the music video is because the music video is a story that you can’t just watch a short piece, plus in the live version you can really hear the power and emotions behind their perfect voices. Phantom is forever one of my favorite groups and they deserve so much more recognition. So if you haven’t checked them out, be sure you do so the lyrics of this song can really become a part their past.
Phantom (팬텀) - "Like Cho YongPil (조용필첨)" M/V [English Ver.]

In 7th place is a another rocking comeback with CNBLUE- “I’m Sorry". This song is definitely the song that has made me get into them. The song is so catchy and when it comes on you can’t help but stop what you’re doing and just jam. I even almost broke my bed while jumping on it. (Actually every single time I hear the song there's always, ALWAYS, an accident of some sort.) The music video is also very cool because it’s filmed in London and the scenes of their breakups have really good acting, especially Jungshin haha. Over-all this was a very great comeback for them.
CNBLUE (씨엔블루)- "I'm Sorry" M/V

Next is the new hip hop duo EGOBOMB and their song "Throw It Away". This song is so awesome and their rapping is insanely good! Like I said last episode, with their skills they have a great future ahead of them. You should look them up if you still haven’t.
Egobomb (이고밤) – “Throw It Away (갖다 버려)” M/V

The power of this week’s comeback artists is shown as GLAM, who was placed 1st last week, is placed at 5th this week. Despite them moving down to 5th place, they are still very highly played on repeat. This song is seriously one of my favorite songs ever. If you still haven’t checked them out, what the f**k are you waiting for!?
GLAM (글램)- "I Like That" M/V

Now we enter the realm of never ending comebacks starting with 2YOON’s *BOOM CLAP BOOM BABOOM CLAP* “24/7”. I’m seriously in love with this song. It was instantly stuck in my head after the 1st time I heard it. Maybe it’s because I’m a true southern country girl from Texas and I like country music, but this song makes me so happy and warm. The dance is also very simple and easy that you can’t help but to sing and dance along! I actually got to meet Jiyoon and the rest of 4Minute so of course I do feel a bit biased towards 2YOON as well. (I actually didn't get to meet Gayoon because she was sick.)
2YOON (투윤) - "24/7" M/V

Now these next 3 artists were the absolute HARDEST to rank. Every other second I kept switching them around and so just know that in the end no matter what the actual rank was, they are all number 1 in my heart.

In 3rd place we have a legendary comeback with H.O.T’s, Moon HeeJun and "I’m Not OK". Now as an American, I didn’t grow up listening to H.O.T like I did with N’Sync or Backstreet Boys, but after getting into KPop I quickly learned who the 1st generation idols were and to respect them because they were the foundation of the genre I now love. That’s why I was still excited none-the-less for this comeback, but I have to admit, I was not expecting this full out awesomeness. Moon HeeJun’s choreography BLEW ME AWAY and if you watch my reaction video you can see how it was so perfect it made me literally tear up. I have a big weakness for amazing choreography and this was more than amazing and perfect. Like words really can’t explain the full love I have for this comeback. He also performed "Pioneer" for his comeback stages. Every time I watch the performances, I always end up crying chicken shit tears.
Moon HeeJun (문희준) - "I'm Not OK" M/V

In 2nd place I present to you the perfect debut of Co-Ed School’s all male sub-unit, SPEED and their song “It’s Over” featuring Kang Minkyung from Davichi. Where do I even begin? This debut was over-all so super perfect to the point I’m left rolling around on the floor literally in tears. Now they are actually a prior all-male sub-unit of Co-Ed School (5Dolls being the all-female unit), but only Taewoon (leader), Jungwoo, & Sungmin are the only original members left. (Apparently SPEED is also no longer a sub-unit. Hence why this is their "debut". ~ but not even I'm sure about this.) They released 2 music videos a drama and dance version. The drama version was really good as it continues telling the story about the Gwangju Massacre from their “That’s My Fault” video. The acting is really superb and the story line is really good (and sad). Then they add on a dance version and wow, this choreography is so freaking cool! Their tutting is so on point and synced, then the light up gloves they use emphasize their tutting even more, and thennnn you add on Yuhwan and his acrobatics and you have an mind blowing performance. Then on TOP of all of that, you place it with amazing raps and vocals and seriously I wonder how I’m still alive after that. It was seriously such an epic debut.
SPEED (스피드) - "It's Over" M/V: [Drama Version] [Dance Version] [Debut Stage]

Finally in 1st place is the creepy and unique comeback of V-I-DOUBLE-X VIXX with their song "On and On". So they were bound to get 1st on my chart because I’m a pretty big Starlight if you couldn’t already tell from my shirt and poster in other videos. They captured my heart with "Rock Your Body" and after seeing them live at KCON, they took a hold of my heart for eternity. But they are also placed at number 1 this week because their comeback is so creepy, original and ICONIC! From their very different hair colors, to their crazy eye contacts, the eye makeup, outfits and even their choreography it’s all so creepy and different. I love how the song starts off with the Phantom of the Opera then it becomes this very catchy beat that slightly gives me the same kind of chilling vibes that Michael Jackson’s Thriller gave me. Their vocals sound so great and Ravi’s rapping makes all the ladies ovaries explode. I feel like their looks are a huge mix of vampires, werewolves, and zombies ALL COMBINED INTO ONE. Like how is that even possible? I don't know, but VIXX did it! (Okay so maybe Leo is the only one who looks like a werewolf but still, you get what I'm saying.) The choreography is so cool and unique too. It’s really like watching dancing zombies! I feel like this choreography is forever strictly VIXX's iconic dance just like Michael Jackson's "Thriller" dance is. When you see the part where they go is “I need therapy, lalalala therapy” you will automatically KNOW it's from them. I feel like I really may need therapy because this comeback was just way too perfect.
VIXX (비스) - "On and On (다칠 준비가 있어)" Lyric M/V
Now for whatever dumb reason, the actual music video is gone from youtube *cries for your soul if ou didn't download it when you had the chance*, anyways, this is the lyric video. I'll post the actual mv link if it ever comes back.

That’s it for this week’s countdown! As you can probably tell by how much I had to say, I absolutely loved all these comebacks so very much! It’s really a wonder how I’m still alive after crying and having my ovaries and brains explode from all my feels!

Micci's Weekly KPOP Ranking [Ep 2: Jan 7-13]

Micci's Weekly KPop Ranking
Episode 2
Week 2: Jan 7-13, 2013
(Video Posted: Jan 19, 2013)

This is my very second Weekly Ranking!!
I Just wanted to try out weeks 1 & 2 of Jan anyway to get started (trial & error ya know) and get more ppl familiar with how they will work. Also there may be some artists I forgot about because it's been a little while. (Though I tried looking up everyone who promoted.)
Week 3 (Jan 14-20) will be the REAL DEAL for sure. These weekly ranking segments will be posted every SUNDAY (US Pacific Time~ probably in the evening), so be sure to keep a look out for them!

Also you’ll notice I’ve added a few songs that aren’t on my rankings because they are not being promoted in Korea but I still think they are worthy for people to look at. They would've place in my top 10 had they been.

The first overseas song you should check out is U-Kiss "Alone" which came out Jan 8th in Japan. The music video and song is very hard to find, but it’s absolutely worth the intense search or money if you end up just buying the album anyway. The song is amazing to listen to, the dance is super great to watch. They all also look so hot! They certainly worked really hard to make this perfect. As a Kissme, it’s amazing to see them grow this much. Personally I’m very disappointed they aren’t very well recognized in Korea, but in the end their overseas success all over especially in Japan makes me very happy that other people do realize how amazing they are. U-Kiss fighting!

Next is Super Junior M "Break Down" which is currently being promoted in China. Despite SM having this new obsession with dubstep, the dubstep is used so well in this song. I have to admit this might be my favorite Super Junior song ever along with the Japanese version of Opera. The dance is also super perfect! It’s great to see Super Junior M having this kind routine! Now if we can get Super Junior to have a song this great in Korea that would be nice. My only disappointment with this song was that my bias Siwon wasn’t in the dance part but I guess it was because he’s too busy filming his drama. Also, there is a Korean version to the song that is equally just as good, so check it out as well!

SPEED feat. Davichi (스피드 feat. 다비치) – “That’s My Fault / Sad Promise (슬픈약속)
(Note: This is before they released “It’s Over” with their comeback stage~ that’s why it’s listed here instead of on the rankings.)
The last song and music video you should check out is actually not an overseas promotion, but it’s not being promoted in Korea either. This song is really sad but it’s so well put together you can’t help but be in awe. But then again, I love rap so that may be why I love this song so much more. The dance for this is really good, but it’s completely outshined by the drama music video. I may not like CCM, but I can’t deny they certainly do release the best drama music videos. This video is like a mini drama brings forth the Gwangju Massacre that occurred in 1980. The video is really just so good because of the acting, so it's definitely something you should check out if you haven’t already!
[Drama Version] ~ PART 1 of the full story. "It's Over" is part 2.

Now I’ll get on with the actual rankings for this week.

In 10th place is the amazing vocalist from Brown Eyed Girls, JeA with her song “While You’re Sleeping”. I love Brown Eyed Girls and JeA is certainly for sure one of my favorite female vocalists. The song is very deep about a one sided love but it’s her beautiful vocals backed up with a choir and amazing instrumentalists that make this song so moving. If you don’t feel something inside you when the song ends you must be heartless.

Now I’m going to quickly interrupt my countdown to help you understand how to read the ranking information on the right side of the screen:
The big number you see is this week’s ranking. The number below that will either have an arrow pointing up or down (or a "+"/"-" in newer videos), that’s the number of places it moved on my ranking from the previous week. The last number is the “Highest Ranking number” and it will tell you what the highest ranking it ever received on my rankings was.

Moving on now, the next song on the ranking is the long awaited debut of Infinite H with “Special Girl”. I seriously love how Hoya and Dongwoo sound and look in this song. As I said earlier, I really like hip hop, and this soft hip hop feel they bring is seriously perfect. The music video was really good and funny too. However, I wonder how drunk the stylists were when they gave Dongwoo that skirt pants thing that doesn’t match his top at all.

Another thing to help you understand how to read my ranking strip. When an artist makes a comeback or debut you will see the word “new” on the side instead of numbers. This is because it’s their first time on my rankings so they haven’t gone up nor down.

Moving on again, Kim Sori’s Dual Life comes in at number 8 this week. To be honest, when the song was first released I didn’t pay attention to it, nor did I watch the music video till this week. Suddenly now that I have, the song has really grown on me and I can’t help putting it on and dancing to it. The music video is so amazing because Kim Sori really shows off her flexibility and dance skills.

Having moved down from 5th place last week, this week’s 7th place goes to Bigstar- "I Got Ya" or "I Got The Feeling". This song forever makes me bubbly and very happy. The song shows their cute and fun side compared to "HotBoy" and "Think". It’s really great to know they can pull off this cute concept when they normaly have a hip hop style.

This next song and music video in 6th place was actually released in 2012 but it’s only now being promoted and that’s 24K- "Secret Love". 24K is seriously a very un-known group still even after their powerful and, in my opinion, perfect debut with "Hurry Up". Something about this song still gives them the strong image they debuted with but it’s alot softer. Their dance and vocals are so perfect and seriously, they need and deserve more recognition. If you haven’t checked out the song or music video you certainly should.

After placing 10th last week for it being too over the place and giving me a headache, Girls’ Generation’s I Got A Boy has moved up to 5th place. I’m glad I never gave up on trying to give this song a chance because now I absolutely love it! Now that I don’t headaches from hearing it, I can really enjoy it and I love dancing and along to it. I’ve noticed a lot of people are having the same reaction as me where they didn’t like it when it came out but now it’s grown on all of us! It’s so addictive!
Girls'Generation (소녀시대) - "I Got ABoy" M/V

In 4th place this week is the spanking brand new rookie hip hop duo, Egobomb. They literally just debuted this week on Jan 9 and I can’t even fully explain how amazing this duo is. Their song “Throw It Away” is seriously super catchy and their rapping is SO GOOD. It may be because they are under MC Sniper, but dang they are so WOW-GOOD. With their rap skills I can certainly see a very great future ahead for them. The music video is also super cool as they play bad boys escaping from a prison. The other song on their album, “Ready To Fly” is equally JUST AS AMAZING. It’s only been week 1 of their debut and I’m already forever a HUGE fan of them. I strongly recommend that you check them out especially if you love Korean Rap and Hip Hop.

C-Clown still remains strong on my rankings at number 3 despite it dropping one place. Like I said for week 1, I could honestly listen to this song forever and ever on repeat. It’s THAT good. They make me very proud to be a Crown. They also released a solo mv for EACH member so if you want to learn them, you can check those out as well.
C-Clown (씨클라운) - "Far Away... Young Love (멀어질까봐)”

This week’s 2nd place is Boyfriend who made a very hot comeback with their song I Yah! The music video is cute as the guys all fall for this one girl, but it’s nothing compared to their dance routine that has noonas like me falling so hard for them. If you haven’t seen it, be prepared to cry and die from so much hotness. I especially love this song not only because of the routine but because of the funky 90’s feel to it. Ever since "Janus" Boyfriend continues to grow more mature in their images too. In the music video they play school boys, however on stage their outfits are no where near a school boy image!

Finally the first place for this week’s KPop ranking is none other than GLAM- "I Like That". This song really just keeps on growing on me more and more. Every time I watch their performance on music programs I fall more and more in love with them. They are all so pretty and super talented with their vocals, rapping, dancing. They have that hip hop girl swag mixed with a girly cute side to them. They are so well rounded it’s hard not to fall in love them!

That’s it for week 2’s KPop Ranking!
As stated in week 1’s ranking, these are the only two weekly rankings that will be uploaded on a different day. You can catch my weekly KPop rankings every Sunday (US Pacific Time).
