Micci's Weekly KPOP Ranking [Ep 2: Jan 7-13]

Micci's Weekly KPop Ranking
Episode 2
Week 2: Jan 7-13, 2013
(Video Posted: Jan 19, 2013)

This is my very second Weekly Ranking!!
I Just wanted to try out weeks 1 & 2 of Jan anyway to get started (trial & error ya know) and get more ppl familiar with how they will work. Also there may be some artists I forgot about because it's been a little while. (Though I tried looking up everyone who promoted.)
Week 3 (Jan 14-20) will be the REAL DEAL for sure. These weekly ranking segments will be posted every SUNDAY (US Pacific Time~ probably in the evening), so be sure to keep a look out for them!

Also you’ll notice I’ve added a few songs that aren’t on my rankings because they are not being promoted in Korea but I still think they are worthy for people to look at. They would've place in my top 10 had they been.

The first overseas song you should check out is U-Kiss "Alone" which came out Jan 8th in Japan. The music video and song is very hard to find, but it’s absolutely worth the intense search or money if you end up just buying the album anyway. The song is amazing to listen to, the dance is super great to watch. They all also look so hot! They certainly worked really hard to make this perfect. As a Kissme, it’s amazing to see them grow this much. Personally I’m very disappointed they aren’t very well recognized in Korea, but in the end their overseas success all over especially in Japan makes me very happy that other people do realize how amazing they are. U-Kiss fighting!

Next is Super Junior M "Break Down" which is currently being promoted in China. Despite SM having this new obsession with dubstep, the dubstep is used so well in this song. I have to admit this might be my favorite Super Junior song ever along with the Japanese version of Opera. The dance is also super perfect! It’s great to see Super Junior M having this kind routine! Now if we can get Super Junior to have a song this great in Korea that would be nice. My only disappointment with this song was that my bias Siwon wasn’t in the dance part but I guess it was because he’s too busy filming his drama. Also, there is a Korean version to the song that is equally just as good, so check it out as well!

SPEED feat. Davichi (스피드 feat. 다비치) – “That’s My Fault / Sad Promise (슬픈약속)
(Note: This is before they released “It’s Over” with their comeback stage~ that’s why it’s listed here instead of on the rankings.)
The last song and music video you should check out is actually not an overseas promotion, but it’s not being promoted in Korea either. This song is really sad but it’s so well put together you can’t help but be in awe. But then again, I love rap so that may be why I love this song so much more. The dance for this is really good, but it’s completely outshined by the drama music video. I may not like CCM, but I can’t deny they certainly do release the best drama music videos. This video is like a mini drama brings forth the Gwangju Massacre that occurred in 1980. The video is really just so good because of the acting, so it's definitely something you should check out if you haven’t already!
[Drama Version] ~ PART 1 of the full story. "It's Over" is part 2.

Now I’ll get on with the actual rankings for this week.

In 10th place is the amazing vocalist from Brown Eyed Girls, JeA with her song “While You’re Sleeping”. I love Brown Eyed Girls and JeA is certainly for sure one of my favorite female vocalists. The song is very deep about a one sided love but it’s her beautiful vocals backed up with a choir and amazing instrumentalists that make this song so moving. If you don’t feel something inside you when the song ends you must be heartless.

Now I’m going to quickly interrupt my countdown to help you understand how to read the ranking information on the right side of the screen:
The big number you see is this week’s ranking. The number below that will either have an arrow pointing up or down (or a "+"/"-" in newer videos), that’s the number of places it moved on my ranking from the previous week. The last number is the “Highest Ranking number” and it will tell you what the highest ranking it ever received on my rankings was.

Moving on now, the next song on the ranking is the long awaited debut of Infinite H with “Special Girl”. I seriously love how Hoya and Dongwoo sound and look in this song. As I said earlier, I really like hip hop, and this soft hip hop feel they bring is seriously perfect. The music video was really good and funny too. However, I wonder how drunk the stylists were when they gave Dongwoo that skirt pants thing that doesn’t match his top at all.

Another thing to help you understand how to read my ranking strip. When an artist makes a comeback or debut you will see the word “new” on the side instead of numbers. This is because it’s their first time on my rankings so they haven’t gone up nor down.

Moving on again, Kim Sori’s Dual Life comes in at number 8 this week. To be honest, when the song was first released I didn’t pay attention to it, nor did I watch the music video till this week. Suddenly now that I have, the song has really grown on me and I can’t help putting it on and dancing to it. The music video is so amazing because Kim Sori really shows off her flexibility and dance skills.

Having moved down from 5th place last week, this week’s 7th place goes to Bigstar- "I Got Ya" or "I Got The Feeling". This song forever makes me bubbly and very happy. The song shows their cute and fun side compared to "HotBoy" and "Think". It’s really great to know they can pull off this cute concept when they normaly have a hip hop style.

This next song and music video in 6th place was actually released in 2012 but it’s only now being promoted and that’s 24K- "Secret Love". 24K is seriously a very un-known group still even after their powerful and, in my opinion, perfect debut with "Hurry Up". Something about this song still gives them the strong image they debuted with but it’s alot softer. Their dance and vocals are so perfect and seriously, they need and deserve more recognition. If you haven’t checked out the song or music video you certainly should.

After placing 10th last week for it being too over the place and giving me a headache, Girls’ Generation’s I Got A Boy has moved up to 5th place. I’m glad I never gave up on trying to give this song a chance because now I absolutely love it! Now that I don’t headaches from hearing it, I can really enjoy it and I love dancing and along to it. I’ve noticed a lot of people are having the same reaction as me where they didn’t like it when it came out but now it’s grown on all of us! It’s so addictive!
Girls'Generation (소녀시대) - "I Got ABoy" M/V

In 4th place this week is the spanking brand new rookie hip hop duo, Egobomb. They literally just debuted this week on Jan 9 and I can’t even fully explain how amazing this duo is. Their song “Throw It Away” is seriously super catchy and their rapping is SO GOOD. It may be because they are under MC Sniper, but dang they are so WOW-GOOD. With their rap skills I can certainly see a very great future ahead for them. The music video is also super cool as they play bad boys escaping from a prison. The other song on their album, “Ready To Fly” is equally JUST AS AMAZING. It’s only been week 1 of their debut and I’m already forever a HUGE fan of them. I strongly recommend that you check them out especially if you love Korean Rap and Hip Hop.

C-Clown still remains strong on my rankings at number 3 despite it dropping one place. Like I said for week 1, I could honestly listen to this song forever and ever on repeat. It’s THAT good. They make me very proud to be a Crown. They also released a solo mv for EACH member so if you want to learn them, you can check those out as well.
C-Clown (씨클라운) - "Far Away... Young Love (멀어질까봐)”

This week’s 2nd place is Boyfriend who made a very hot comeback with their song I Yah! The music video is cute as the guys all fall for this one girl, but it’s nothing compared to their dance routine that has noonas like me falling so hard for them. If you haven’t seen it, be prepared to cry and die from so much hotness. I especially love this song not only because of the routine but because of the funky 90’s feel to it. Ever since "Janus" Boyfriend continues to grow more mature in their images too. In the music video they play school boys, however on stage their outfits are no where near a school boy image!

Finally the first place for this week’s KPop ranking is none other than GLAM- "I Like That". This song really just keeps on growing on me more and more. Every time I watch their performance on music programs I fall more and more in love with them. They are all so pretty and super talented with their vocals, rapping, dancing. They have that hip hop girl swag mixed with a girly cute side to them. They are so well rounded it’s hard not to fall in love them!

That’s it for week 2’s KPop Ranking!
